Instant Photography

Wonderful shots by Bean.
I tried taking one with her Fuji instant camera...
One... and it looked TERRIBLE.
Such an art form using a one-try-is-all-you-get photograph.

Yeah, there's no way I could take photos with a camera like that. I HAVE to have a camera with "steady shot" on it. My hands are way too shaky.

Her photos give that wonderful old time feel.

There's definitely a real art to it, and she has an eye for it. Nice!

I bet it's a lost skill and art. We are kinda spoiled with digital. Click away at your hearts content and delete later. When you have one shot I bet your eye is sharper at finding the perfect composition.

Fantastic shots and great subject!
For crisp nighttime Halloween shots the only way to run the 2 second timer to soak up all the floating colors. Daytime Halloween shots afford all the available well-lit tricks but the "darkness" factor is entirely in the hands of the photographer.
Great job here.

I agree. There is this nostalgic look to each of her shots that just can't be captured by the average photographer. Bean has an amazing talent for snapping these wonderful pics!

Man, I just spent a long time crafting what I hoped would be a good addition to this long thread of comments but the internet went and ate the dang thing. Gonna give this a third try and hopefully one of the attempts will get through.

My humble opinion: this is your best display to date. You said this was going to be stripped down but I'm just not seeing it. What I AM seeing is that every single detail has been labored over and presented perfectly.

Watching your display evolve every year is the most fun thing about being a fan. Every year gets topped. It really is a matter of leaps and bounds--often in unexpected directions.

I love the obvious creative chemistry between you and Bean. The gifts you each bring to the work integrate perfectly but also stand apart distinctly. That's something truly special and it's a joy to be able to see it.

One day, I hope to stand amidst your display in person. What an amazing experience that would be.

Like I said in my other comment, your respective talents are so well suited to one another it's ridiculous. I love her view of your work.

Sorry for all the duplicates tonight. I'm having a little trouble with the comment function.

Bean's photos look like they were shot right out of the sixties...so cool and so earthy...like being transported back through time.
