Snow Photo Hunting

We went for a walk last night as it snowed.
Bean snapped the cool photos below...  love the one with the red and green bulbs.  As a kid, I used to shun houses with those giant C-9 bulbs...they were like a giant illuminated sign that read "Old People Live Here."

Now I see them as the good old days of Christmas. I gots to get me a strand of those and carry the torch for the old people, as I'm 94 years old in spirit and mood.

These are beautiful, beautiful images. The falling snow in the third and the framing of the last one... superb.

A few thoughts here... First, the photos are spectacular. They capture a Christmas feel, yet give a dark, twilight sense to them that's both surreal and empty; also joyful and bright. It's as if the most dreaded time of the year when all harvest is gone and the weather is relentless is filled with spots of good tidings. Amazing pics!

Second, I share the same feelings as you about the lights. With LEDs taking over, something about the old fashioned C7/C9 lights (and plastic blow molds) reminds me of the olden day's of Christmas. They put off a charm that seems to disappear in all the modern decor.
