Afterwards, all the pumpkins and guts and leftover seed go into the ashes after a day or 2. I then rake the ashes over the pumpkins as they break down over the next few months. Each year a massive pumpkin plant or 2 will emerge. I never feed or water them, the ashes feed them naturally.. and whatever its in the ash keeps snails away. If you have some ashes cover the plants base with it, it will help it grow and deter snails. Good luck...

mikeJason-vhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13601846053426315632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-784285653010648547.post-3576233883030453912010-05-22T09:45:31.737-04:002010-05-22T09:45:31.737-04:00Copper tape is your best friend.Copper tape is your best friend.ShellHawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17705072702016925284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-784285653010648547.post-23761217247162779392010-05-20T14:29:42.283-04:002010-05-20T14:29:42.283-04:00Oh no!! So far they haven't done serious damage to any of the plants.

But yes, if they are eating the pumpkin patch, measures must be taken.Ghoul Fridayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09783865823490404290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-784285653010648547.post-84542615548624423682010-05-20T12:58:05.949-04:002010-05-20T12:58:05.949-04:00I think that, when we were kids, we deflected snai...I think that, when we were kids, we deflected snails away from our pumpkin patch by circling it with wood chips.
