Mentioned this radio show a while back.
Love the artwork. Reminds me of Halloween decorations when I was in grade school. In my mind, everything was in faded-out colors. Pretty exciting when the teacher (and some little helpers) would start stapling up those long rolls of colored paper on each side of, and above, the blackboard. Then the paper leaves and acorns would go up, and those cool unfolding pumpkins (honeycomb decorations) would maybe hang from in-between the ceiling tiles.

excellent entry. i remember those things as well...all those decorations. when i see similar ones now i want to run up and grab them and take them home. of course, i don't :)
Never had the chance to hear this version. However, I did recently learn of the existence of an animated feature of "The Halloween Tree" by Hanna Barbera. It was surprisingly good for HB. My kids dug it. I'm assuming you, no doubt, own a copy. On the off-chance you don't, it is on YouTube.
Loved all those old decorations back in school too. Especially the old rivet-jointed heavy-paper skeletons. Always asked to take them home after Halloween. Always denied. =D
My elementry school would do a big Halloween carnival every year with a haunted house, cake walk, and a bunch of games that the teachers would run. The best thing was the whole neighbor hood could by tickets and come, so there would be hundreds of people attending. I went every year until they ended it when I was in 7th or 8th grade I think.
It was a lot of fun.
How can we hear this? Is it online anywhere?
Great memories in this post - thanks for the trip back ;)
I couldn't find the whole thing anywhere online.
As I understnad it, the feature has never been released on DVD (a crime if you ask me). Amazon.com has a VHS version for sale. If you go to my blog and click on The House YouTube Channel, I have the entire feature in my favorites (broken up into 7 or 8 clips). It's all there and in very reasonable quality.
Enjoy.
The cartoon is great, I had never seen this before. Thanks for the linkage HouseBloodthorn!
:)
Awwwwwwww you're absolutely right. This picture reminds me of a Halloween craft we did back in nursery school.
It was an orange construction paper pumpkin with black triangle eyes, nose and mouth... and then it had arms and legs you glued to it that had been long strips of black construction paper folded accordion style.
As you can see I can still remember it distinctly even though I must have only been about 4 years old.
Ahhhh memories...
Good find!!!
