The Dyatlov Pass Incident
...an event that resulted in the deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on the night of February 2, 1959.
Six of the group members died of hypothermia and three of fatal injuries.
There were no indications of other people nearby apart from the nine travelers on Kholat Syakhl, nor anyone in the surrounding areas.
The tent had been ripped open from within.
The victims had died 6 to 8 hours after their last meal.
Traces from the camp showed that all group members left the camp of their own accord, on foot.
To dispel the theory of an attack by the indigenous Mansi people, Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny stated that the fatal injuries of the three bodies could not have been caused by another human being, "because the force of the blows had been too strong and no soft tissue had been damaged".
Forensic radiation tests had shown high doses of radioactive contamination on the clothes of a few victims.
The final verdict was that the group members all died because of a "compelling unknown force". The inquest ceased officially in May 1959 due to the "absence of a guilty party". The files were sent to a secret archive, and the photocopies of the case became available only in the 1990s, with some parts missing.

An Imperfect Conflagration
Early one June morning in 1872 I murdered my father--an act which made a deep impression on me at the time.

Paranormal Witness: Producer Interview
Episode six, which we’re editing at the moment, is a story of demonic possession and it’s absolutely extraordinary. Again, on the face value you think, “My goodness, this can’t be true,” except in this case it’s corroborated by six people including the chief of police of the town in which it happened. It really is an incredibly creepy, extraordinary story of demonic possession, so you’d better look out for that one.
One of our stories, the Trumbull UFO Chase, tells how a 911 dispatch office in Ohio was completely inundated with calls from the townspeople seeing bright lights in the sky. A number of police officers then wound up chasing this unidentified flying object around the county. That entire incident was recorded over the Trumbull County police dispatch 911 records offices, so that type of archival, factual basis features very heavily in our show. Likewise, if photographs have been taken of poltergeist activity we make sure that those are cut into the films to give it that extra layer of credibility.
We have a really broad range of stories. Some are real rollercoaster rides and shock-a-minute like “The Haunting of Mansfield Mansion,” which I think is probably the scariest of all of the stories. Others are supernatural tear jerkers like “Haunted Highway,” and some are really just kind of overwhelmingly fascinating, such as the “Trumbull County UFO Chase.”

Reanimation
Take Me. Come into Me!
Well, there I was so awfully dead in that electric chair. I didn't like it. Would you? It's upsetting. There was still so much killing to do, and there I was, in the void, without a body. But then along came - well - my friend. You know. One of them. Those others over there. The cruel ones... the Master. He thought my work should continue. But in this body. This body in particular, in fact. Let's call it revenge.

The Gnome Home Project
Finally got around to a little project I mentioned a while back. Placing a gnome door at the base of a tree in an area where a pedestrian will see it. Ultimately I'll place one where it won't be easy for a person to investigate, like on the side of a road near a traffic light, so the driver or passenger will see it briefly as they pass.

Trick 'R Treat Photo Album
Can't wait for Halloween? Neither can we. In anticipation of our favorite holiday, FEARnet's creating a brand new Trick ‘r Treat promo spot and we want you to be in it! Dust off the old photo album, send us pics or video of yourself as a kid dressed up for Halloween, and your image could appear alongside Michael Dougherty's devious little Sam.

I'm totally going to dig out an old photo...maybe the Salt and Pepper one..
The Cooling
It seems that cooler air is finally being forecasted.
It's coming in on the back of a windy storm.
Classy way to arrive.
Hopefully it stays clear through Halloween.

Trick 'R Treat: Back To School - Behind The Scenes
Very cool to see Mike Dougherty's house used as Sam's Halloween nest. And super awesome to see his witch jars and my zombie in this fearnet production video.

Branches
If you're brave enough
to go out into the orchard,
on a night of a harvest moon...
a night as still as death...
you can still hear my mother's body,
swinging in the trees.

If Sophia Coppola made a film set during Halloween, I have a feeling she'd use this song.
