Pumpkinrot 2014: Halloween Horrors

The Witch on her broom came in for a landing.
She parked her old stick where the Devil was standing.

Old Scratch kissed the hand of his Halloween host
Then spoke ancient words to summon the Ghost...

Well Sir, I can't pick one aspect of this to gush over. Each figure is amazing, my eyes immediately snapped to the ghost, but each one is phenomenal. I think if you could liquify this display, bottle it, the label would simply say "Halloween", this....is Halloween.

Get behind me Satan! What evil deeds were conspired at such a hellish union? A lifting of the veil between the living and the dead! He hath born minions to scare every tot , he goes by the name of the one Pumpkinrot!

Hey, Thanks, Jeff!
Glad you dig it.
Really had fun with the design this year. My goal was "old Halloween postcard."

Happy Halloween!

And Happy Halloween, everyone.

Good luck tonight!

I definitely get an old school vibe off it, almost as if ripped from one of those "Halloween way back when photos" when the costumes were far simpler and much scarier. Love the Jacks, love it all, Thanks Rot, Happy Halloween to you and Bean as well!

Rain forecast over on this side of the state, but we'll muddle through.

This has got to be my fav setting yet. That's devil looking thing is beyond creepy..so cool. Love the stick tombstones!

Carved our first jack-o last night, cloves in the lid, and an anise & clove candle burning inside. I was tempted to stay up all night. Rot...this weather may be an all timer. Feels like its magnifying the smells 10 fold.

I'm not saying happy hallloween, cause then it seems like its over..we got the entire day ahead of us :)

I just can't pick one image to love best! The Ghost looks amazing in B&W and color. The trio with the Jacko behind them is awesome. The old school style with referencing the image and poem at the beginning is really neat. The sliver of a daytime shot of the porch has me wanting more --can't wait to see all the details! I really like the quartet post-card-y images(Jacko, Devil, Witch, Ghost). So fun! Happy Halloween!!:)enjoy every second!

HOLY HELL! This is amazing! It is so hard to pick a favorite, but I am going with the third figure. Skeletal whitish looking creep. You never cease to amaze! WELL DONE!

Wikkedmoon said...

Wow Rot. Every single one is a work of art all on its own. But the cauldron crowd is just amazing. Loving the devil addition. Happy Halloween to all - may the weather and the spirits be with you.

I really dig the 3 of them hanging out and plotting horrible things. The Devil is my favorite :)

Nothing short of amazing. You really outdid yourself this year. You filled me with squee, is what I'm saying. ;)

Thank you for sharing your Halloween with all of us.

Autumnleaf said...

How you always manage to out do yourself is beyond me. Everything has that Rot magic/organic quality and still something new to enjoy. I have to go with the witch as my favorite....but devilishly surprising!

Autumnleaf said...

Rot, I have to ask....did you sprinkle all of these wonderful oak leaves or are they naturally occurring?

Rot said...

Funny story with the leaves.
Every year I panic that the large trees around here aren't going to drop their leaves in time for Halloween...so this year I asked a coworker who lives a good distance from here if she could bring her bags of raked leaves to work each day in her trunk...shamefully I made that request.
Then all the trees in the neighborhood dropped their leaves a couple weeks ago....but I had this massive pile of her leaves in the yard...and sprinkled them manually over everything. It's such a critical step in the process. Then we just rake them to the curb and a truck comes through and eats em up.

But it's a manual sprinkling job each year. Love how it looks.
Funny, a few people commented on how nice the leaves were. They seemed to catch the light better than local leaves : )

Goneferalinidaho said...

How beautiful! I've thought of "importing" leave since our tree out front os pretty pathetic. We need to grow a big old blaze red maple there. I loved seeing your haunt. It looked so creepily cozy and intimate. I hope you had a great Halloween!

RebelShade said...

Awesome :) I am Sure you would make beistle proud with this One!!! Just love it, vintage Hallowe'en all over it :)

Countess VonRauber (Heidi) said...

So spooky. I'm digging this theme! I love the ghost. The draping of the cloth is beautiful. He looks ancient. The twig crosses are such a nice touch. There's just something extra creepy about graves marked by handmade wooden crosses. Bean did a superb job on the JOL's as always :)
And the petrified JOL scarecrow... wow, super nice.

I like the simplicity of this year's design, if that's the proper term. Not that your more complex creations are any less wonder-ful, of course.

BTW, here's a motto for you:
"I wants to make your flesh creep," as the fat boy says in the 8th chapter of The Pickwick Papers.
