I just saw this film last night. It's incredible. So creepy, no jump scares or gore, tons of silence...it just gets under your skin and stays there. A few awful moments are broadcast a mile away...and the dread of waiting for them to play out is agonizing. it's perfect. I thought the last act was a bit odd until I realized that it's absolute metaphor. As long as you can appreciate that, it won't seem as silly as I think some people are touting it. I highly recommend this film, it's truly unsettling, and heart wrenchingly relatable to people who have experienced certain things...
ohhhhhh yes, i saw this preview somewhere(?)..i remember thinking, it had like an older, sorta old school movie, vibe to it. & the book is SO awesome looking too, would love to own a copy!
Wow, that trailer just scared me to death. Lol. I think it's worse for me because I have little kids. I've been ranting for quite some time that if horror films want to be really scary, or at least really disturbing, they need to involve children in real peril. This one looks legit. This trailer really freaked me out, lol. Like it's broad daylight and I'm looking at my closet door and I'm scared. Well done. Don't know if I'll have the guts to watch this.
Saw it On Demand this past weekend. Excellent movie. The viewer can take it at face value or go with the metaphor slant. It works well either way. Creepy as hell. I love a good, ambiguous horror movie done right!
This film works because the kid is utterly convincing. Trailer almost seems to lump it in with the rest of the typical horror offerings of today (occulus, etc) but this is not that movie. I know certain folks that will hate it because of the ambiguous final bits but it really is a gem..
Honestly, I went into this with low expectations even thought the trailer looked very intriguing. Ultimately I was very surprised. It has it all...acting, story, score, mood, atmosphere, practical effects, camera angles, all fantastic. And there was no CGI to be found. Simply put, this movie freaked me out!
OMG...we watched this & it was Pure love for me..Perfect movie, wonderful direction & acting, very scary too..i've fallen completely in love with this flick (i totally agree with Hal9thou's comment) Oh & the director is a former actress (not sure if she still acts) i'm hoping to hear some commentary from her on this film in the future.
Oh & we also watched "the taking of debra logan".. Brrrrrrr...gave me the Creepies & i hardly ever use the word creepy...hahahaha..i liked it!!!
Just watched this, and it might be the scariest movie I've ever seen. Felt exhausted when it was over. The images on the late night tv were pure genius..creepy as hell.
Spent 45 minutes looking for the book, only to find out there was a crowd funded campaign for a real copy, but they are all sold out. All 6,200 of them :(
