I approve of the Halloween setting for the new Scary Stories film...
Stella Michaels (Colletti) is a young girl still haunted by her mother’s disappearance on Halloween night — an incident that she suspects her father knows more about than he lets on. Years later, Stella and her friends are involved in a Halloween prank gone wrong. But are they really at fault, or was it the work of a vengeful spirit — a female ghost who uses her scary stories to come after the teens when they begin to investigate the disappearance of several children?

Never read the book(s), but sounds excellent.
Sounds great! I ordered a set of the 3 books with the original art last year as a memento. Very pleased to own those. They were a crucial part of my childhood obsession with Halloween.
My nieces swear I read them scary stories from those books when they were little, but I do not remember doing that. I DO remember rigging up our motor home as a horror house on wheels! That was a fun pre-Halloween night! ;) Most of their childhood nightmares come courtesy of their Aunt Jana. (Yay!)
I'm screaming with excitement over this, tbh
There has never been a bigger anticipation for a film for me than this. However Im a bit skeptical that Del Toro is doing the directing. His style isn't exactly the type Id see working for this. Can we just get Rot, and Sam Heimer to team up and direct this?
I'm with Adam! Half excited, half skeptical as well. I feel like I always look forward to these kinds of things and they always end up in the wrong hands and turn out to be extremely disappointing. I guess I'm a bit of a film school snob, but I always end up watching adaptations like these and wishing they had turned out better. Doesn't necessarily have to be exactly what I might do with it -that being said, if it were me behind the project, I'd personally love to keep it atmospheric, with like a German expressionistic inspired/ yet Stephen Gammell inspired look and feel - like old school/stop-animation era Tim Burton a little bit... Meanwhile I'll just be prepared for glossy, over-colored, fake-looking CGI this and CGI that :( But, at least the plot sounds like it has some potential though so we'll see...
