I question the sanity of all ventriloquists and the taste of anyone who feels ventriloquism is entertaining.
It's perhaps the most unnerving art form ever created. Imagine living with a ventriloquist. It must be like emotional nitroglycerin at all times, listening to the dummy's voice during rehearsals. And you KNOW they use the voice on and off ALL. DAY. LONG.

I find ventriloquism entertaining in only a horror setting. Dummies are usually creepy as hell, even when it isn’t intentional. Howdy Doody, Tales From the Crypt, Goosebumps, Buffy, etc
There was always plenty of creepy dummy material to watch, growing up.
Oh, they definitely use that voice outside of performances. Just..no.
And people always seem to recommend "popular" ones, but they're more like sideshow horrors at a forgettable carnival.
There's no WAY they're happy performers. The ventriloquists, not the dummies.
Though both are equally disturbing to me.
The only modern ones I know are Jeff Dunham, and the young girl that was on one of the tv talent shows. I can’t say that I have anyone making recommendations, thankfully.
Haha. Yeah, I will say that it probably is a lot of hard work to become good at it, but at some point you have to figure it gets old, and they just do it because they think it is expected of them, or they have friends/family wanting them to provide free entertainment.

Definitely a strange phenomenon to work so hard at becoming great at something that repulses most people. Proving it's more like a sickness or a disorder.
Yep. I wouldn’t want to stifle creativity in any kids I may have someday, but I would definitely try to redirect their interests to something else less weird, like maybe bone collector, or joining a cult.

I vaguely remember this movie. It was creepy. Ventriloquists and their dummies are a creepy bunch. The popularity seems to have waned a lot as I cannot even think of one that's known now in pop culture.
definitely a dark love story and not necessarily a horror film.

Loved it. Was worried Hopkins' character Corky would become the dummy at the end.. nope..
I was super satisfied with the ending.

I must recommend the horror book "The Secret of Ventriloquism" by Jon Padgett, a former professional ventriloquist.
