I've spent a lot of time looking at this stuff - awesome!
I saw a TV show one that dismissed all the myths about the Winchester House. They said that the oddness about the house was just due to the normal additions and renovations made to the house over the years and the resulting leftover oddities (a stair that goes nowhere, doors that open onto brink walls, etc)

I use to live in San Jose, this place is totally worth a visit, been many times as a kid.
Been years since I've been, and I live 1/2 hour away. May be time for a visit.
