My brother sent me this news item:
PLUM ISLAND, N.Y. (WPIX) [SOURCE HERE]
An alleged mutated human body washed ashore on Plumb Island, a small island where the U.S. Government typically studies dangerous animal diseases.
A security guard on foot patrol reportedly discovered the clothed decomposing body Thursday afternoon on the southwest beach area of the island, where access is restricted, police said.
The body was described as that of a white male about 6-feet tall with a large build and "very long" fingers. According to authorities, there were no obvious signs of trauma.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Suffolk County medical examiner in order to determine an exact cause of death.
Plum Island, which is located about 100 miles northeast of New York City in the Long Island Sound, has been called a potential target for terrorists because of its stock of vaccines and diseases.
I wonder how long the fingers were. For someone to mention them, I'm assuming they needed to be at LEAST an inch or more longer than normal human fingers. I mean, if I found a body and felt compelled to include finger length in addition to body length, the fingers would be about a foot long each.
There's not a lot of information about human finger length on the internet. It seems the recorded data is all about deformities or Marfan's syndrome, and not natural aberrations.
So how long were this poor man's fingers?

I always love things like this in news stories. If the terrorists didn't know before, they sure know now!
Yeah, they could at least compared the length to something else to give us an idea how long they were.
Then I could look at my fingers and maybe add something to them so I could walk around to see what it would be like....
If that were me, I'd totally be quoted as saying something like "foot-long fingers!"
Sounds like Mafan Syndrome to me

"People with Marfan's are typically tall, with long limbs and long thin fingers."
Yup. I mentioned that at the end of the post : )
Though I looked at photos and none of them really seemed long enough to warrant a "very long fingers" description.
That's not the first time strange things have washed ashore near Plum Island. Anyone recall the "Montauk Monster?"

Oops! I read the whole post, but was thinking about Marfan and my subconscious passed right over your mention. Duh me, must be the fumes of spray adhesive getting to me.
I saw a case of Marfan and in person the fingers looked way freaky. I think you have to actually see it in person. We are desensitized to images due to movies, TV and such.
If the guy in the report had Marfan's, I don't think the fingers would even have been mentioned. When you look at the black and white pic here you only think, "those folks are tall." You don't think, "OMG! Look at their fingers! Why are they so long and scary?!???!!"
Reading this reminds me of a guy who used to shop in the grocery store where I worked as a teenager. He had six fingers on each hand. Five normal looking fingers, then a really small finger (about the same size as a persons smallest toe) next to his pinkie finger. They even had little finger nails on them.
