Our talk had been serious and sober,
But our thoughts they were palsied and sere —
Our memories were treacherous and sere —
For we knew not the month was October,
And we marked not the night of the year —
(Ah, night of all nights in the year!)
We noted not the dim lake of Auber —
(Though once we had journeyed down here) —
We remembered not the dank tarn of Auber,
Nor the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.
Edgar Allan Poe
(Wanted to re-post this old photo I took back in 2009. Man, Halloween is the best. The Best.)

Great poem. Great pic....
Yes. Yes, it is!
Have you ever seen the play "The Weir" - based in the same area in Ireland that the poem references (likely part of the inspiration) - it is a great Irish ghost story.
Cheers!
I've never seen nor heard of it.
Cool.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Love that photo! The essence of Halloween - a simple smiling Jack O'Lantern in a dark window - the lighting is magic!
Agreed!
I was getting all antsy for Halloween today, taking a drive through so. Pas usually calms the craving. Then I stumbled on this:

Long story short, the Strode house in the 78 Halloween encourages people today to borrow a pumpkin they provide on their porch and take pics along the sidewalk and posts where Laurie sat waiting for Annie. I think that's pretty darn cool. :)Maybe if I ever get up the nerve, I will take them up on that.
