Maybe it's because I studied classical music, but give me the Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack to Alien over the 'CG' version any day. There's definitely a place for the synthesizer in music,it's here to stay. I love the Tangerine Dream soundtrack to Legend, for instance but find the Goldsmith version of the same more compelling...and more insightful. I have, and enjoy, both soundtracks. It's not unlike the use of CG in today's movies verses the 80's and before. Computer graphics are brilliant....are they a better medium to illustrate the story?
