New Year's Day--Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time. However, go in, community. New Year's is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls, and humbug resolutions, and we wish you to enjoy it with a looseness suited to the greatness of the occasion.

Happy New Year
There's a guy down the block from here who insists on setting off fireworks every year at midnight. The rattle-your-windows kind. Like he's trying to down passing bombers with flak. Though they never seem to make it very high and explode at window height.
So every year I go to bed around 10pm on New Year's Eve, and every year I pray that it rains or that he's grown out of this, but I'm always startled awake by concussion explosions.
This year I should either stay awake past midnight, or plan on wetting the bed.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year.

HA. We get all kinds of fireworks going off around our area. I am usually a late nighter anyways, around 1:30am or a little later, so doesn't bother me.
Maybe you can go down and turn the water hose on him and yell, "NO! Bad neighbor! NO!"
Yeah, I got a neighbor who likes to throw firecrackers down the street sewer in front of his house so they boom and echo even louder. Lucky I am a heavy sleeper, I'll be passed out by 9 tonight anyways.
That's nothing - I used to have a neighbor who celebrated with live gunfire! You'd find casings in the street the next morning.
Happy New Years, Rot and Bean!
Hope you didn't have to change the sheets!;) lol
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! :D
P.S. we had crazy gunfire/fireworks around 3am because, you know, 3am is the new midnight? Idiots.
Happy to report that our neighbor didn't blow anything up last night.
Happy New Year, guys : )
I use to be one of those firework people. I blew off one whistling sky rocket. That's it.
Happy New Year to you Mr. Rot and Ms. Bean
