Five minutes ago I had no idea what a stumpery was.
But now I must have one.
A stumpery is an intentional arrangement of woody
material like trunks and root wads. A root wad is a length of downed
tree that includes a portion of the trunk and, most importantly, the
root mass or ball. The goal of a stumpery is the
creation of habitat especially for ferns; secondarily comes the sense
of accomplishment from arrangements that display the arresting
architecture of the roots, or any other things that you can find on or
in re-purposed wood.

And don't get me started on Stump Fences.

I NEED a stump fence.
I bet it would look cool to have a small light poind up inside one of these. Or a light pointed at it to cast a shadow on the side of a building.
yup, have a book on Pioneers/farmers used stump fences cause they are long lasting. Would love to have a haunt where they are surrounding a cemetery or witches' den. Probably easy to make out of P.M if someone made a stump cauldron before. ;)
OMG!!! How cool is this!!!!
There are a lot of downed trees in the woods behind our house. Hmmm...
That is just awesomeness!!
These are wonderful!!!!!!!!!! And it makes me feel so much better about all of the dead limbs and vine trunk that I hoard like treasure...
