Can't recommend this documentary more highly. Figured it'd be similar to past zombie docs (Doc of the Dead), with zombie walks and zombie survival guides and the condescending Max Brooks, but it's none of those things. Just an incredibly well-made and informative tale of how Romero's Night of the Living Dead came to be.
The trailer below doesn't do it justice, so trust me.
It's currently on Netflix Streaming.

Thanks for the heads up on the Netflix streaming. Now I don't have to rent it on Amazon! I've only heard good things on this documentary, and will be watching it asap!!
I really wanted to love Doc of the Dead, but it ran too long and had too much of the usual silliness which accompanies zombie tales.
Birth of the Living Dead is a love letter to anyone who ever worked hard to get something done.
And I'll always worship Romero for his willingness and excitement to discuss something over and over and over again. He gets it. And seems thrilled to still talk.
Something I would definitely like to see,. Don't have netflix, so will have to find a different way.
Love seeing stuff with George Romero. I'll watch anything when it has to do with zombies, just as long it isn't cheesy.
Didn't know Doc of the Dead was on Amazon Prime. Just watched it. I thought it was a lot of fun. Better than I expected from the trailers. I viewed a couple of segments as a waste of time, and there's nothing scholarly about it, but I'd spring for the DVD or whatever if it wasn't free. It would be interesting to see some of the stuff that didn't make the final cut. Nice that it had enough of a budget to include clips from all of these different movies. Weird that it didn't mention the DOTD remake at all, though.
Birth of the Living Dead is also great, of course. I guess that will be the definitive NOTLD doc while Romero is still alive. On the downside, the choice of guest commentators seemed kind of random and the classroom thing was kind of meh.
Yeah..the classroom thing was some serious meh.
I really, really enjoyed this. And Romero is a joy to watch...he's so funny and full of life.
