A Conversation With K.O.

Here's an interview I did with my old bud K.O. at her Halloween blog The Skeleton Key.

Awesome interview. So cool to see alittle log what goes on in that rotten head of yours.

If I met you, I would probably bug you with so many questions. Then again, I'm not much of a talker. I'm more of a listener.

One of these days you'll see me and Bean taking photos of your cool scarecrows right outside your house.

: )

There must be something genetic to all of this, I think. Our Victorian house décor is approaching "The Addams Family" house. It's year round. Every fall a few more gems....and they stay. Perhaps our "safe little artificial horrors" distract from (or prepare us for) the real thing we all know awaits?

Fantastic interview. Always cool to hear your insights. If you're ever interested in doing an interview on my site, just say the word. ;)

What a great interview. So neat to see how someone else who loves Halloween ticks. Thanks for sharing with all of your fans. And if I met you, I would try to barter, beg, or even steal a prop from you- While J.S. is distracting you with alcohol. :)

haha
The alcohol ruse would probably work.

It was a great interview and I like that you use product that is earthy and organic. I am jealous of all the corn stalks that you guys have up north. Would be willing to trade palm fronds for corn stalks!!!! oh, sigh ....:)

Willow Cove, I'll go get some Pumpkin Ale. :D

Pumpkinrot is the reason why I use nature stuff in my haunt. I gather branches and sticks all year long. I have three big maple trees in my backyard.

Now if I could only get my trees to drop their leaves in October instead of November.

Great interview. Only thing I disagree with is your not wanting to post a How-To-Do on one of the amazing props you create. Just a hint of your techniques would be very inspirational. Maybe just one jack O head???

Had a friend on FB dying to know your process and this was my response:
( I'm a huge fan of Rot! That being said, I think knowing how he does what he does would lose some of the magic. Like knowing how a magician does a particular illusion. Sometimes you just don't want to know and just enjoy it. He has teased writing a book on his method and maybe someday he will. ) At least you do interviews! lol

I'm in on the pumpkin ale, I don't even want to know how the work gets done anymore, I'm just thrilled that it...IS. Before Spooky Blue led me here I had no clue how beautiful, haunting and stunning a simple yard display could be. I didn't know how, wasn't certain where to start,
I just knew I had to try. Agree totally, Blind Sentinels are maybe the most breathtaking works of Halloween art I've ever witnessed, can't imagine them being topped, but if they are it will almost certainly be by your own hand. Great read, always a thrill, thanks to you and KO for this tiny peek at pure genius.

That was a great interview to read! Thanks so much for doing that for us. :)

And just name that alcohol! I'll be more than happy to bring some and shoot the breeze with you!

Really great interview. I truly enjoyed all of it. And I can finally rest easy now knowing that you didn't tear down the sentinels. It is really hard for me to pick a favorite prop of yours but those sentinels were right up there and I have thought many times how great they would look on either side of a fireplace. I do love the idea of the older props being taken apart and morphed into something new though....very appropriate since your work is so organic anyway. I agree with keeping the process a mystery...it retains the magic!
Thanks for all of the inspiration. You have definitely had an influence on my haunt :)
