My feet hurt.
Sitting here waiting to head back to the school to break down the Haunted Hallway. It's crazy to think a 100 foot straight bland school hallway was turned into something like this in less than a day. And it's crazier to think the school lets it happen in today's sensitive climate. The principal told me that this event draws the largest crowd each year out of all other events.... over 650 people partaking in a Halloween Dinner/Haunted Hallway event. Kids running around in costumes, music playing in the cafeteria and gym, tables decorated with orange and black plastic, and Halloween decorations everywhere. Not Autumn decorations...but good ol' fashioned Halloween decorations.
It was neat to be a part of it.
Here are some photos...

Pure awesomeness right there. Looks great man. Fantastic work. Think you'll do it again next year?
Really great! This is just the first step until your haunted barn is realized! I would love to have walked this hallway! Thanks for sharing ROT!!!
THAT.........is incredibly awesome. I bet it was wonderful to be part of.
Wish I could of been a fly on the wall in that hallway.
Ton of fun.
Just got home.
The wood and materials filled a medium sized U-Haul truck. Crazy amount of work. The guy who designed/built it reminds me of Eric from Haunted Overload...tons of energy and a logistics wizard.
Seeing the Hallway at the end of the night back to its old boring self was very strange.
So cool! Neat that your props could be seen in that setting. I like the pic with the trees going up to the ceiling.
And the photo bomber ;)
And the school should be named Pump K. Rot Elementary for the night.
I kept yelling at that kid to put her head back behind the wall..but nope. Kids sense my inner lack of authority.
At the end of the hallway, as an exit, there's this crazy thing I never heard of...the claustrophobic exit...two blowers inflate two fabric walls and you have to squeeze through. And it's surprisingly scary as both sides are pressing into you with a lot of pressure..and you get completely enclosed by the black fabric...and you're pushing with all your might to free yourself...then you plop out into another hallway.
very cool evening.
So Awesome!!!! I would love to be able to participate in something like that.
I hope they know what a coup it was to have you onboard ;)
Wow. I've been super out of touch on this blog as of late but this definitely sounds awesome. :)
Looks amazing! Making memories and inspiring the kids to do this when they grow up.
Not a fan of the squeeze wall. They came in to vogue in a haunts a few years back. Not crazy about having everything picked up by the wall deposited back on me. That is scary.
Going through that claustrophobic thing at the end...I actually had a tiny moment of panic halfway in. I loved it.
Man, they were just asking for a Michael Myers attack.
haha
I should have come out of Myers Retirement for this one.
That looks incredible!!!!! I am SO happy to hear and see that they aren't afraid to celebrate Halloween in all it's glory. I get so sick of hearing about schools that have switched to the "Fall" decor...or don't let the kids get dressed up and enjoy the Holiday.
Omg, the claustrophobic exit!! We went to Vally of Fear last weekend and they have one of those at the entrance to their Zombie maze. *Gasp* I am extremely claustrophobic and have never been in one that covers you entirely . While I did ok as long as I was moving...the woman in front of us kept stopping which started sending me into complete panic mode. At one point I didn't think I'd make it through. I very nicely had to start nudging her forward ;-)
We finally made the exit, me with wobbly legs and freaking out a little bit. Thankfully the Zombie that was waiting for us at the end made me forget all about being stuck in that thing behind someone who didn't want to move as I squealed in delight! Love it when they come out of nowhere!
awesome story : )
I was shocked at the pressure that thing puts on an adult...i'd imagine some tiny kid got in there and figured this was the end.
some little girls told us how their costumes got torn and they lost some angel wings in that thing.
I believe it.
I believe it too!! Omg, I couldn't imagine being little and stuck in that thing!! My wonderful husband helped me out when I was starting to panic....he put his arms up and pushed out as far as he could to give me a bit of breathing room. He knew it was that....or we'd be backing out......and most likely into the next group coming in....which would have sent me even more into panic mode LOL!
Gorgeous work, as always! I so wish I could have seen it in person!
Absolutely STUNNING. I can't believe you put all that together in just a few hours!!! Big props to that school for letting you make it so scary too!! I'm sure the kids LOVED it. Talk about a badass Halloween memory!
So sick Rot.
Bates Motel in Glen Mills has the claustrophobic hallway too. Experienced it for the first time 2 weeks ago, and it freaked me out big time. It's like your birthing out of a demon.
That looked like a great time. I went through a few of those claustrophobic hallways last year at a big pro haunt. All I could think of were the crazy germs being pushed onto me. I held my breath and closed my eyes.
The pictures look fantastic! What a great time I'm sure everyone had! Nice that the school allows this to happen!!yeah for Halloween!
truly Fabulous! so glad that more folks can experience your wonderful creations! (those squeeze-claustrophobic things are fun--I've noticed that many professional haunts are incorporating those into their set-ups)...the scarier, the merrier!
I seem to be the only person around who isn't freaked out by the squeezing sensation in a claustrophobia tunnel. In fact, in an odd way, it's kinda pleasant.
Wow! So amazing and cool. I would love for my sons school to have that. They are lucky to have you put that together! :-)
Fabulous! The school is lucky to have your talent set up Halloween Hallway! :-)
What a fabulous and magical time for those kids. How cool that you were a part of it. Who knows how many future haunters you inspired.
My kids' elementary school held a Halloween Hoot every year. The fifth grade parents were responsible for the haunted house. We used boiled pasta for guts, fake blood, bowls of peeled grapes for eyeballs, a mad scientist and all kinds of creepy goodness. I think they have toned it down a lot though. They probably use all those blow-up jumpy houses now. Sad.
I am sure some great and lasting memories were made. I remember as a kid we were always going to makeshift haunted houses by the VFW Hall or Knights of Columbus/Lions Club would put somthing on - Don't really have those anymore....Sad, some of my best memories as a kid!
What a great idea, good to see that old nasty coot Halloween alive and well somewhere in scholastic America. Looks absolutely wonderful. Awesome Job!
heyyyy...next time, wear your hush puppy, "earth shoes" so your feet won't hurt ya. : D
SO Wonderful what you guys, gave to those kids.
a gift of LOVE is always always Perfect!!..<33333333
omg..it's so late or early.
we just got in from the library.
haaha.
HAPPY Halloween, dude & dudess
Good Luck today!. : )
<3
Happy Halloween!
Man, that is fantastic. It saddens me how much the schools around here are trying to do away with holidays in general, and Halloween in particular. I'm glad to see that this one did something so cool.
