Let me ask you a question: did you ever see that movie, "Night of the Living Dead"?
Oh, yeah, yeah - that's the one where the corpses start eating the people, right? What about it?
Did you know that story was based on a true case?

When I was 10, I would rent this at the movie store (on VHS) and watch it about three times a day. My mom never had a clue what it was about.
that cadaver is still one of the scariest things in any horror film.
and the way camp, humor, and horror are balanced in this movie is always a treat.
Like it's so campy...but truly scary.
And I PRAY they never remake these movies. They would make them too serious.
I also love how the two main characters were in the first and second movies.
Watch this on July 3rd every year...
Tarman is definitely up there as my favorite zombie of all time.
I'm no fan of the horror-comedy genre, but this is a glorious exception. Tarman is one creepy goofball of a monster.
LOVE this film...with a passion! It was the first horror flick I showed my daughter, outside of the Universal classics, precisely for its perfect blend of scares and laughs.
Tar Man, in my mind, is every bit the horror icon that Freddy or Jason are.
And don't forget the soundtrack!!
It's a pity that William Stout's great zombie designs were bungled by the make-up artist and didn't make it into the finished movie (except the tarman and half-zombie, which he nailed, and the "are you ready to party?" grave skeleton, which sucked).
Love the cemetery shots and how we follow the poison rain down through the earth to the casket.
Not sure if they're nationwide, but Pathmark supermarkets had a spokesman that I feel like was a family relative from how often we saw the tv commercials...and my mother's market of choice was Pathmark..well, seeing the spokesman in ROTLD gradually die and then off himself in a furnace made some serious scar tissue...
here's my uncle...Uncle Pathmark Guy...

& i always think of the original actress, who was supposed to be the "nude punker". she complained about what a creepy perv Dan O'bannon was, said when she went to talk to him about the movie, he had ALL this porn, just lying around, so she was like, "uhhhh that's ok, i don't think i want the part any longer"...ewwwww...poor girl. : (
oh & Clu Gulager !!!!!!..he is straight up Love!!...& a Living Legend....<3333...Super Deluxe Awesome movie!!
James Karen, also the hero of the horrible but fun Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster 20 years before ROTLD.
yessss, Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster..horribly wonderful!!..hahaha.
i own it. : D
Oh Oh Oh & Don Calfa tooooo!!! my MOST favourite incinerator dude ever!!!..hahaha
that dude is Awesome, i also remember him from all his wonderful character work on tv shows. he was in everything!!...Love him tooooo shreds.
Me too! It's not half bad for a movie that's mostly shot out of a car window.
