Noticing that a lot of haunts posted this year have lots of great colors this time around.

I'm going to take a stab at that reasoning and say that I think people are switching to fluorescent bulbs. Cameras seem to love those, but I feel like it's harsher on the naked eye. I experimented with a few and it felt a little unnatural, but the camera LOVED it. But I opted to go with old fashioned amber flood lamps on Halloween night. Though those get extremely hot and prone to blowing out.

I should add that I used Fluorescent bulbs in all of my displays the last few years..mixed in with regular.

I used led floods with the green and blue last year. I also bought two amber led flood bulbs last year, and now I can't remember where I got them and I can't find them. Should of bought more than two.

Rot, do you mean compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) when you say "fluorescent bulbs"? Most of mine are CFLs with a couple of LED lights now.

I found the Feit CFLs are better than the Phillips CFLs, the blue Philips bulbs are too white. I tried a Utilitech green light this year, its on my tie wearing zombie in my photos, I was really happy with the color. I am going to try a blue LED next year and if I like it replace all the Phillips CFLs.

Great display! Especially love all the skelly's watching "The Tingler"! This haunt has the blend of spooky and whimsical that I always strive for. Very impressed!

I switched to LED floods this year and really liked the effect. Seems like the old floods just wash out after a few years. Probably from the heat. I'm a nut for details and I love hearing about everyone's lighting. Thanks!!

Thanks Rot and everyone else for the very nice comment!
The lighting is mostly made up of small rectangular remote controlled LEDs.
Nice for on the spot color changing etc. I still have a bunch of the old yard floods but it's very hard to run them without blowing the breaker.
Rot is dead on about this type of light being great for photos..

that looks great in that frame...is that from the Raymond Chase Etsy shop?
Looks to be textured though?

Again, very cool lighting ! I agree that in person, fluorescent lighting is harsh and unnatural looking but wow... on camera, it's amazing!
