haha... he was a one night stand. dude is missing now. Only saw him once...and i was checking the plant daily before that because it looked a little dry.... maybe the hot weather? maybe he's in a chrysalis somewhere already? weird.
I'm hoping for chrysalis too! We had 40+ fat monarch caterpillars on the 2 milkweeds planted in the front yard. I watched in horror as one day wasps helicoptered around the plants and picked them off one by one to take home for meals. I looked like a lunatic trying to keep the wasps away - spraying a garden hose randomly at the air and screaming curse words. My husband came out and laid down some water cover fire for me and I rescued 19 of them. Raised them inside in a butterfly habitat where they successfully pupated and I was able to release all of them! With the enemies they have to face in nature, it's amazing we have any butterflies at all.
you're my hero. Caterpillars meet horrible ends..tomato horn worms in particular...just awful. I have saved my share of cicadas from hungry birds... As they say..there's no compassion in Nature... and boy isn't there.

He's cool!
That is a good looking caterpillar/alien waiting for you to go to sleep so it can take over your body.
