I feel like this movie is already being seen as an unofficial Stranger Things tie-in...
I realize that IT was in already in production when Stranger Things came out, but even without the obvious cast overlap, the imagery, setting and tone is so similar that the Duffer Brothers ought to be getting royalties for making this movie so damn marketable.
I'm personally extremely excited. The original mini-series was good for its time, but it was hampered by the network censors of the day. This looks far more in-line with the tone of the novel.
As for the Stranger Things comparisons...well, considering that the Duffer Brothers cited the original novel of IT as being a huge influence on that series, it really comes as no surprise. I'm sure some will cry "ripoff", but that is hardly fair...especially considering that the source material for IT predates ST by almost three decades.
