You'll get a kick out of this.
Going through old files and found the "manuscript" of the ancient idea I was kicking around of putting down some Haunting tips and tales into some kind of book.
I pasted the intro onto a fun photo for effect...

Dude, don't you dare downplay your idea!! That sounds awesome! I'm sure we all hope this happens but really, I just hope it happens. What a cool book it could be!
HA, I remember back when you were thinking of doing this.
I'd buy that book. I like seeing the way different haunters think about and plan for things, the approach, the method, a different perspective on what is important.
Actually, one of my favorite finds is the J.B. Corn haunt manuals (www.chillisintheair.com/jb-corn/). Older material and aimed at pro haunts rather than home haunters, but there is one takeaway that stuck with me - two types of guests. You get mostly the folks who come to be scared, the casuals, but there are also the "appreciators" - and you've gotta design for both. (Probably because I think most haunters are the appreciator types ourselves.)
Anyway, be interesting to have something similar for home haunts. Not just "how to build this prop like me, how to carve pumpkins like me" (I have those too), but haunt theory. Types of haunts. Level 1 - put on costume and sit on porch, through lv 4 - haunt burnout coming on fast. Would be interesting.
haha
i'll start work on the syllabus now
"Dude, I took it last semester. All he does is play movies!"
PUBLISH IT!!! This needs to be a book!!
I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw that post title.
But what a wonderfully evocative passage... any chance that you'd ever share anything else which was written for the book?
Theo,
probably...there was way more written than i remembered..and lots of notes to flesh it out.
: )
deep red swags of indian corn..for doors!!!!!!
the sound of that line IS so poetic...just flows & reads SO lovely!!
i've said it out loud a bunch of times already & i dig it's sound. : )
Beautiful rhythm.
yeah, do your own October Country Rot. October Country is like "the drift". it's always there waiting for us, in case we need to visit & feel the love of the season. your blog is that already. we just NEED your book now to pick up where Ray left off...
continue the stories for us.<333
YES! I love this!
I remember the mildly obnoxious "Go tell Pumpkinrot to write his book!" campaign I attempted to fire up at my now neglected blog.
#iwouldtotallybuythatbookbythewaynopressure #thatswhatfriendsarefor
haha...
#hilarious
I remember seeing Mr. Glassett's post.........
Hey Pumpkinrot, go write that book.
This is damn poetic. You need to write this, and a full collection of Begging For Candy cartoons in a coffee table sized book.
I would also totally buy this book. In fact, I'd buy it for all my friends!
I would give copies away on Halloween in lieu of candy. The anti-tract.
Dude...I should just send you $19.95 right now, just for that passage.
HAUNT, a diagram, an ideology, a passion...
By Mr P Umpkin Rot

All kidding aside. You start a kickstarter campaign.....and WATCH! We be right behind you Rot!
