there were intense discussions on making every single photo vintage-ish. It was only when i saw the cool night shots that the decision was made to mix it up and do both.
I think the project would have been more solid had i gone with all B&W, but it's definitely more fun this way.
All b&w would have been beautiful and it’s fun to imagine it like that. But the shots you have shown us are so wonderful to look at. It’s like we are truly there on your porch. All b&w would just feel different.....
i love coming across those old sepia pics. the ones where the sepia is so rich, it's velvety. & when you hold/look at the images from different angles the inks shift back & forth between brown/black. hard to believe that they're only photos. magic.
I love your concept so much this year! And I just ordered the Haunted Air book. It looks like a good one to get me over the "a whole 'nother year until Halloween" feeling.
I would have understood if you did all b/w but I’m glad you showed the night shots as well. I always like seeing what people who visit your home would see.
This is such a wonderful image; one that you can just linger over. I struggle with the b&w vs. colour thing every year. I always shoot some b&w but feel that I also want to show the wonderful orange glow of the evening show. I did lots of b&w last year and am leaning more towards that for the dusk shots. I love the time of day in a haunt display when the daylight has faded but it’s too early to turn on the show lights. This is when a haunt takes on the feeling of realism that is unmatched by the nighttime colour show.

I like the clothesline.
Looks like it was taken back in the 1900’s.
Love the whole scene!
Great photo! Really like the black and white for this haunt. Really adds to the vintage feel.

Love it! Even the hand written Halloween date on the border of the pic feels authentic.
Love the frame and handwriting on this one, and this image shows how the display holds up even without the witches.
And yeah, totally different vibes in the color night shots and sepia day shots. But both great in their own way.
