"ScareCrones"

Someone left that word on one of my tumblr photos of the Twig Witches.
Thought that was pretty nifty....  and a very cool term.  They look like scarecrow witches...  as when people at work were asking me "You doin' Halloween again?  Whatchu doin' this year?"  And I would reply "Yes, I'm DOIN' Halloween again.  I'm doing a period piece...going back in time to 1921....eh...scarecrow witches...just picture that."

That is a great phrase. Can't believe I haven't heard it before. It might go well with our plans for next year.

Yeah, cool term.
You have been refining this style for years IMO. The Skull Witch/ Witches, Strawman, scareghost, scare devil, etc! There is no end to the possibilities of kinds of scarecrows one can design if they put a spin on the Halloween classic figures. If that makes any sense.

And you should've thrown out the term ephemeral folk figures to your coworkers and watched their eyes glaze over...

Please tell me you bring these inside for the rest of the year. RotMuseum 2018

"Ephemeral folk figures"!!!
I cackled but it's really quite fitting.

An alternate Haunt Theory title...

It's that level of research and detail that sets your display apart from anything else out there. Amazing.

That's a perfect name for them.

Theo...haha
I'll never forgive that coworker..."I was thinking about your figurines...you should make one with wings!"

Theo said...

And flashing red eyes and sound effects that come out of its mouth!

Although I can see a strange broken bird-like creature being pretty cool. With empty eyes and tattered wings wrapped around its body.... Maybe that coworker was onto something.

yeah...haha..my dad was big on being disappointed in my work on account of none of the eyes flashing red...

Creeping Cruds is onto something, Pumpkinrot Creep Museum.

“Come see the creations of Pumpkinrot” (for a fee of course)

It would be like Zak Bagan’s museum........

Did you try to carve one this year? I know you’ve always considered it, but avoided it due to the difficulty. This year would have been a good year for an attempt.

nah.. it's funny, i've never really done much research into turnips and always assumed rutabagas WERE turnips...only to find out today they aren't....they're a blend of cabbage and turnips... so I'll do some digging and see what exactly it was that the Irish carved way back when...

like where does one buy a turnip of this size?

I saw a couple of ideas like using a paddle bit and drill or a melon baller to carve out the inside. Now I want to make one!
Now to find a turnip on steroids....

It would have been so easy to put apples or pumpkins in the cauldron but no, the turnips make it! The whole piece is exquisite.
