The starting point for this year's display was the taller of the Twig Witches - her mask, specifically. I wanted it to be reminiscent of some weird little kid in a terrifyingly innocent vintage Halloween photo found in the amazing book Haunted Air. Once I had that, the rest was built around it.
Here's a side by side... I tried to imagine my front porch existing in the same universe as those awesome [assumption] people on the right.

Yeah, that is an awesome photo and a creepy mask. In those early years of halloween, everything was homemade and I love that!
Even the wool coat, saggy socks and old timey shoes (before sneakers) are great.
The Creepy Kid would be proud and may haunt you to just say thanks........

There is something really appealing to me about this aspect of your haunt this year. Particularly because I use antique photos in my artwork. There is something really cool about a forgotten photograph hidden in a box for years and years and sold off in a garage sale to a collector or artist. It's almost like using that inspiration from their image is like bringing them back to life in a way.....placing them in a tableau where they are actors in a new story.....possibly a hero on their own stage.
I would say you were a complete success with that. Truly amazing!
I was going to say it reminded alot of some of those crazy old time get ups people used to wear long before store bought costumes were all the rage.
Love it. Those masks from that era are truly terrifying and you’ve nailed it!
