First heard about this instrument on K.O.'s The Skeleton Key blog, and here it is being played live... in a very fitting location.

That was so cool!
I would just love to sit there with my eyes closed and listen...........
my GOD do I love this.
i must confess i wanted to shriek when I saw that it was surrounded by LED tea lights and not the real thing.
haha!! I thought the EXACT same thing.
but what a spectacular instrument
Beautiful & Haunted!!!
THIS IS exactly why i LOVE the soundtracks to the Hannibal TV series SO much. the music is more like felt than heard. it really gets in your blood & makes it sing. air raid sirens feel & sound otherwordly to me too..so strange. hypnotic.
there's a guy who plays the electric violin in the evenings in the courtyard of City Hall & man!!!!..it's a wonderful treat to catch. really transports you somewhere else. it's xtra magical on a winters night for some reason. i have a cellphone video of him from a few yrs back & i listen to it all the time.
Why in the hell didn't they have this instrument in the school band!?!?!
