Ashamed to say I’m not much of a reader, so I have never read these.
I am most curious to see how del torro brings the macabre illustrations of Gammell to life. Some have been a hit, others a miss. The ink-wash art in those books raised the level of terror in the stories as a young child reading them alone at night. Hopefully the movie will bring the bizarre and surreal work of Stephen Gammell to life along with a good sound track. We shall see... Looking forward to this one.
