Found a gem. Wonderful silent 8mm movies from someone who adored Halloween. The home haunt is pretty impressive. But do me a favor (if you're viewing on a laptop)... before you click on the image below to launch the short video, click on the link right above it to get some music going to accompany your viewing. It's a fun remix of an old classic by Artie Shaw that I've always loved.
Then click below to launch the home movies...

I love that they're using netting as cobwebs for that killer yard haunt.
Primo.
And it has occurred to me that you can't open two youtube videos at the same time on an iPhone or Android. Sorry about that.
Here's the spotify link ... this is getting complicated.

Man, this is great! The Dracula arm moves!
I realize most people view this blog on phones, so it was just really cool having some music to go with that silent film. But definitely not needed.
That arm was incredible. Someone working that with fishing line!
And now I realize the spotify link is the same situation.
How about this? Call me on my cell and I will play the song from the youtube link into the phone so you can watch the video at the same time.
Wow. the "floating" hand made me giddy.
It's magic. Some people just get it. I
wish and hope there is more footage.
thanks.
!-900-Rot. He's waiting now...call now!...
Yeah, Phones are handy for that. I try, when at home to check in on the blog with the home station. Especially to the detail of many pics .
haha 1.99 for the first minute. 99 cents for each additional minute.
I love everything about this! The haphazard simplicity of old haunts always fills me with joy. And the homeowners giving out candy in costume, is just amazing. I loved how Dracula was slamming bloody handfuls of candy down, like he was annoyed at being disturbed. Brilliant.
Yeah, this is a keeper. Can't believe that Yard Haunt.
It's a beautiful thing.
And I agree about the coffin creep guy. "Don't bury yourself in the part" ...he was so theatrical (I have some nerve.)
This is pure Halloween gold!
Agreed!
Good stuff right here! I went over and looked at the other vids on this channel, the homemade horror movies are so good! (Frankenstein vs. Wolfman) And the Halloween parties with everyone mugging for the camera are excellent! Oh, were it the 70s and 80s again ! Where the cold wars were cold and the innocence was real! And yes, keep this historical record of blogging! So the Margaret Meads of the future can place a sim card against there forehead and watch these images, with accompanying soundtrack, simultaneously play behind their eyelids! Thanks for this post! For some reason, it chokes me up! Too much nostalgia to handle!
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think to look at their other videos!
Well after that post, I got really curious and typed in a simple,'8mm Halloween'. Was not disappointed!
Well, that was just a treat all around!
Given the era, I am blown away by the effort in that display (I think that may have been an early packing tape ghost at the :35 second mark?),and the music really was the perfect accompaniment.
Side note: I woke up this morning having had an extremely realistic dream that it was Halloween night, and I'd somehow forgotten to put anything out at all...not even a single carved jack was lit.
It was terrible.
The Haunter's Dream!
So early!
Yes, AND it was the second one already this year.
Evidently, the Haunter Brain is in conflict with the Regular Person brain that is currently 'wasting time' on a basement renovation, getting sod down in the backyard, etc.
There seems to be some real resentment going on regarding the lack of activity in the workshop, and it feels like a hostile takeover is being threatened...
haha
I wonder if there are any interviews or articles about this phenomenon online anywhere. Like I doubt people who love Christmas wake up from such dreams where they're treeless on Christmas morning.
For as long as I can remember, I have had random dreams where I realize it is Halloween night, and I forgot. It’s dark, there are kids coming down the street, and I haven’t bought any candy! I don’t have a costume. I haven’t set up the haunt. Nothing! So then I start scrambling around the house, trying to throw a costume together, and find something I can pass out to ToTs. I have these dreams throughout the year, which makes them even more strange to wake up to. I always wonder how I could forget Halloween, when it literally goes through my mind, every day of my life, in some way. Weird.
It's definitely as common as sleep paralysis or more so... it MUST be studied!
Luv this. definitely would of been the best setup in town for sure. never would of seen this growing up. rot, there's gold in them there hills. keep em coming
That is just so much fun. What a great walk down memory lane.
What a piece of treasure this is!!!! I remember telling you about my Halloween nightmares years ago and I was so amazed and amused to find out how common it is among we haunters. And your right....never met anyone complaining about Christmas nightmares. haha
Haha...yup... I remember that! Crazy to think we all have the same dream formula...
1. It's Halloween dusk
2. You aren't set up yet, or you are JUST setting up
3. Kids start coming
I love the footage, but holy moly do I love that remix! In my mind, Artie Shaw's Nightmare is THE prime Halloween song, and this is such a fun remix. Thanks for sharing!
Right? I loved that remix so much
