That would be a heck of a choice if you're a ToT! Would you keep an eye on The Ghouls or The Shape?
Clearly, watching the one that's moving would be the natural instinct, plus that's where the candy bowl is...but maybe that's just classic misdirection!
Worse, what if you're in a costume with terrible eye-holes, and your peripheral vision is already messed up, AND it's all a setup just to keep you from looking behind you?!
(getting scared while trick-or-treating was just the best)
