Porch Stuff

Man, it's a beautiful day here today.  Gonna see how long this Beistle skeleton lasts out there exposed to the elements (under the porch).

I had a thought when I saw the photo; basically a very satisfied version of:

"Ah, the preeminent decoration of my youth...there is nothing more emblematic of Halloween than a jointed Beistle skeleton!"

Then I watched the Reel, saw him and the stalks fluttering in the October breeze, and heard it accompanied by the chimes...

"Oh."

I hope he makes it all the way.

Here's hoping! I ordered a new one for this occasion. So I have high hopes he'll hold up out there in indirect rain and moisture. As I agree... If I had to choose ONE Halloween decoration that was the symbol of Halloweens of my youth, it'd be this chap.

Agreed that it is iconic. I ordered three a few years ago to have back ups.
The good news is that they are surprisingly resilient. I have nailed one to a tree when we go fall camping for the last 4 years. It has been through rain storms, wind and sleet. After i just laid him out to dry and he is still going strong. I'm sure that under your porch he will be good foer many years to come.

Excellent news! Thanks!

That brings back a lot of memories of what the Halloween season was when we were kids, paper decorations of black cats, witches, ghosts, jack o lanterns, and skeletons. Very cool.

Oh my I think we had one of these. I have to agree MR.M, there's nothing like the paper wall hangings that bring back the early remembrances of Halloween. Our teachers would often hang these in the classroom (back when it didn't seem to offend anyone).
