Took an amazing trip to Salem where the trees are already colored with autumn. We happened to head to town on the night all the shops were giving out candy to costumed children as though it were Halloween (Mayor’s Night Out).
It seemed only fitting to invite the Witch along.

Oh man!! I love the witch house!! This (going to Salem) is on our bucket list. Your work fits right in man!! Awesome 🎃
Thanks! Looking forward to going back off season!
Definitely! I just told the wife, we HAVE to go to Salem in October. It has to be awesome.
Love your traveling witch. Zero boundaries for her beautiful evilness.
Jealous! You are having so much fall fun.
Haha been the best autumn!
Visiting Salem in October is at the top of my bucket list, I'm jealous. A few years ago my older sister and her husband went to New England in the Fall on vacation. They tried visiting Salem during that time, and spent 2 hours driving around trying to find parking place before giving up and going somewhere else.
Was it anything like that for you? I'd love to visit during October.
Your photos are always very cool.
Traffic was absolutely horrid. We stayed in a nice Airbnb a few blocks from town and walked in.
I'll bet you got a few glances in your direction with your pointy lady friend.
Haha we went really early!
We've been to Salem twice. First time was 2003, the weekend before Halloween. We stayed outside of Salem at the now long gone King's Grant Inn in Danvers and drove in and parked in the main parking garage. It was crazy crowded back then, but from what we understand now is that you can't even find parking in Salem and many roads are closed off. Our 2nd time was early September 2014. It was just a half-day stop returning from a short overnight stay Rockport. The 2nd trip was very enjoyable because it already was starting to like fall and it was quiet. We ate lunch at the Salem Beer Works which unfortunately became a victim of the pandemic and closed in 2021. Place had really great beer and burgers. We've posted pics before from Salem on the blog, but time flies and even that second short stop trip was almost a decade ago, so we may have to do a re-post blog entry soon.
Thanks for sharing those memories!
Definitely worth going back...even during busy season.
We walked around early in the morning and late at night and it was really fantastic.
And if you prep your mind for the crowds and traffic, it all works out.
