Doing a countdown of sorts over on the Instagram - The Pumpkinrot Retrospective (haha).
Gonna get choppy in the 80s and 90s, so I'm feeling this wasn't thought all the way through.
But it's been fun looking back...

And every year tells its own story.
I like the idea that you can review all the exhibitions and works in this way.
It shows your artistic career and how you reinvent yourself every year. And thanks to all the photos and videos from past Halloweens, we can immerse ourselves in that one magical night whenever we want.
Because they will endure. And hopefully it will inspire many more generations to try to create their own little scary world. For this oh-so-special night.
Thanks, man.
It's gonna get sketchy soon with the photos! haha
I've been enjoying going through old pics, and it's neat seeing how moving to this new location back in 2011 really opened things up for the Haunt. Nostalgic memories doing it at my parents' house, but that came with a ton of logistical issues and limits... the location being so small, and my family being so on top of me... and with me having to transport the props and pumpkins to that location.
Full control of the environment now (except for the weather).
I agree with your sentiment completely, having to haunt a location other than your own place is a lot harder than you'd think it would be. When we finally bought our own place in 2000, it gave me 15 years to come up with ideas for making it better every year, and I loved it.
The only year I didn't go all out and go through with my haunt was in 2010, just a few weeks after my mom had died.
I tried haunting our son's home 2 years ago, but they live 50 miles away from us. The logistics alone were time consuming, and it was more work than it was fun. I'm not sure if I'll ever do that again.
The first three pics take me back to when I first discovered your website. My jaw dropped and I knew that I needed to sharpen my haunting skills beyond pumpkin carving stencils.
When you created the Skull Witches, I just left my jaw on the floor and never looked back.
And it's only gotten better over the years. This will sound terrible, but every October I start looking at your jo'l pics to see which ones I want to try to carve.
And each year it gets harder to choose.
Aw, man, I really appreciate that. A ton.
Totally understand, Mr M!
