A few days after each Halloween, coworkers start bringing in candy from their children's trick-or-treat loot. Giant bowls and zip-lock bags FILLED with candy. All the good stuff too. The giant stuff. "They didn't even notice or care" is the reply from them when I ask if their kids were horrified by their actions. Four different parents in the office did this to their kids, so I'm assuming it's probably more common than I'd like to believe. I mean, if I EVER caught my parents STEALING handfuls from my hard-earned Halloween candy, I'd be in jail now for hiring a hitman. "And be sure you rough them up and let them know why it's happening..." I'd say, "...just before you finish them."
Closer....closer...

i dont think my parents ever did that. my dad would take some to work but it was for him to eat. i take my daughter's candy to work with me but i don't share.... my mommy didn't teach me to share >:)
Parents actually do that? That's horrible!
LOL! I just spit ice tea all over my monitor.
I hear ya buddy!
Cheers!
I always knew when my father stole candy from my Halloween stash. Like many children, when I got home from collecting my haul, I poured it all out, sorted it, and made a mental inventory. How many chocolate bars do I have? How many bags of chips? I would plot out how I would stretch out the favourites over time.
I knew when he took stuff. And I'd have a conniption. Eventually, my mom would let me hide my favourite candies in various spots around the house.
Yeah, and these are older kids like seven or eight years old. They are old enough to know the value of candy.
An example: One guy brought in two gallon-sized ziplock bags STUFFED with candy. When they were gone, he brought in two more.
A lady in the office filled two giant bowls with her child's loot.
I always make sure I get the best stuff out of there before the rest of the office finds out.
That is messed up! I bet their kids cared that their parents were giving away their candy.
I did have a friend named Loria whose family is the reason I am obsessed with Halloween today. But anyway, she would still have Halloween candy at Easter. Her Mom would toss it out to make room for the candy from her Easter basket. So I guess there are some kids out there who aren't candy connoisseurs like the rest of us.
"I use to pinch candy off of you Loria when you left the room, and I'm not sorry".
I even used to take some photos of my haul! I did the same mental inventory to plan what and when I was going to eat the good stuff.
I'm stunned. My kids always have every last treat memorized, organized and cross-referenced. There's no way I could have gotten away with that! :D
People do that in my office too. It's horrible. They will actually say things like, "they aren't gonna eat ALL of this!"
i eat it, i must admit.
That's so crappy! My parents would have NEVER done that.. in fact we would push all the bit-o-honeys and good & plentys; candy we didn't like on them.
