I grew up watching this strange Japanese cartoon called Starblazers about a space battleship trying to save the earth.
Apparently it's no longer a cartoon.
Man, I'd watch this thing without subtitles.

Wow, I remember that cartoon too. It was pretty good - sort of like BattleStar Gallactica. Do you remember another Japanese one called GForce? These were all on the heels of Star Wars....
G-Force was the team of heroes on a show called Battle of the Planets. that cartoon actually preceded Star Wars I think.
Also a huge fan! That and G-Force and Voltron! The acting on Star Blazers was so ridiculously over-dramatic. Halacious.
I never really saw those other shows. Just Starblazers. The countdown was such a cool aspect of the show.
