Finally got around to a little project I mentioned a while back. Placing a gnome door at the base of a tree in an area where a pedestrian will see it. Ultimately I'll place one where it won't be easy for a person to investigate, like on the side of a road near a traffic light, so the driver or passenger will see it briefly as they pass.

this is pretty funny.
I love it! So simple and thought provoking.
I love it!
very cute! Love it!
Nice one Rot! Reminds me of this beautifully illustrated book about gnome I seem to recall from the late 1970's, can't remember the title or author though...
love it!
Thats a riot!
Would love to watch the people who would find it and watch their reaction....
Looks pretty sweet. A cool little nature project.
Now, do you think Gnomes are capable of Yard Haunting? :)
: )
I found some bird bones in the corner of my yard. I should do another door, but a lot rougher than this one, and pile the bones up outside of the door.
Being from Nordic decent, I do so appreciate those who accommodate the little gnomes, trolls as well. I'm equal opportunity.
Have you two seen the wooden toys they make for little kids nowadays? Gnome doors, Fairy doors, little furniture for them, etc. I love that they don't actually provide the gnomes or fairies. It is all up to the kids to make believe and they are encouraged to do what you just did. Place them at the base of trees, etc...
Need to know where this is!
Sara,
I have seen those little doors. I think they're somewhere on this blog even.
Bob,
I ain't tellin'
Cool Rot! I would love to find one of those in the woods in my area. Very Brian Froud-esq.
That's great! I love messing with people.
Knock! Knock!
Who's there?
Gnome.
Gnome who?
Gnome Sweet Gnome.
Dog-sized spiders. Well, there's my nightmare for tonight. Thanks. 8-O
Awesome! You gotta give us a little hint, Bucks County is a big place riddled with trails.
: D
Somewhere in Tyler State Park.
I would put these on the sides of port-a-potties.
I LOVE this! When I was a child, I had a vivid imagination. Seeing one of these Gnome doors would have given me a thrill that would have lasted me a lifetime.
Oh good, a nice small park.
Should be no trouble to find....
That is soooo cute!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Bucks County? The Village ain't up behind that over some wall that only blind chicks can climb over is it?
Tragically, many gnomes, all over the woodland, do not have homes to call their own.
So please, support the gnome home project today. We work to provide safe, comfortable homes for many of the gnomes living out on the trails without shelter or warmth.
Awesome. I put a gnome door up in my yard. It was a great addition to our yard and the kids loved it. Until the dog got to it of course. I guess she doesn't like gnomes.
:D
this is a great idea. curious to see what happens.

someone does this to a few trees in my neighborhood. i walk the dog and see little gnome doors and toadstools at the bases of 2 or 3 trees. i like it when i see it. reminds me to stay imaginative.
oooo...with your amazing talent you could make a door out of bird bones!!
Even more spooky! :D
