Such a cool prop. I also like the one that was done by the crew of Rasputin's Carnival of Risk. (http://hellizondohaunt.com/blog/category/rasputin-carnival-of-risk/)
The Cauldron Creep has been an interesting take on the old Cauldron Stirring Witch prop. I've seen some great implementations and some OK ones since these guys have come along. I like the clothing on this one as well as the washtub style cauldron.
Man Rot, I wish you did animatronics. I bet your take would blow the genre out the water.
Always liked " the creep". I'm with you JS, I started doing this full speed ahead because in part, I was inspired by the original PUMPKINROT scarecrow. I've played around with the idea of motion props, but ultimately decided that was just another headache I didn't need. That said, should I ever do that route, this would probably be the first. Simple effective motion, great visual, great prop.
I agree. I love seeing what people come up with when it comes to animatronics, but I'm not ready to tackle that yet. I'd be happy getting eye sockets to glow. I got major respect for those who go all out with FCGhosts, axle worthies and stuff.
I'm sure that will come in time given the massive popularity boost in recent years. If so I may give that a shot. I think it would be cool if one of the skull witches was stirring the stump I guess, or one of them randomly turned to look at you, but it doesn't sell it anymore than the design did. Me personally, I have to improve overall with "static movement", poses, etc. and craftsmanship, once I'm there maybe I'll jump into mechanics.
Exactly! Capturing that "pause", The Skull Witches, your sentinels, the zombies...
That is what I hope to achieve this year. I was happy with the overall design of the Harrison Hollow witches on paper, making that 3 dimensional however and giving it that movement, life, that pause...totally eluded me. Designing this time around specifically to exude that look.

This is always a great animatronic prop. I don't like to do animatronics. I go the static route, but I enjoy seeing other haunt's animatronics.

I wish someone would sell affordable basic-movement machines for Haunters.
Something quiet and sturdy.

The key to an effective static prop is making it look like it just paused for a moment, and not that it's frozen/stuck in time.
Like, is it a position a creature would stop for a moment and look around in?
Mind you, I've done a few "action" poses, but I feel most comfortable with the "paused" ones.
Good to know, thanks!
Yeah...GhoulishCop did his take on this prop. It come out pretty damn good....

I'm not much into the animatronics myself but its fun to watch.

I am so thrilled and honored to be on Pumpkinrot's website. I think his talent is the stuff of legends! And Victor, my Cauldron Creep is delighted! :)
