Excellent.
More photos than a human could possibly want.
Not true Rot, I could pour over many more. I love the incorporation of the skull, I can't tell the scale, Deer? Mule? Horse? Anyway, it looks way cool.
The large one is a cow skull...the two bird-like crows flanking the horned dude are deer skulls.
And thanks : )
Wow. Now that's a lot of photos. So much to take it.
Did the scarecrows this year have names/backstories like the Hollowmen? I think my favorite is the one in the middle here: http://pumpkinrot.com/images/2013_164.jpg
And those creepy goat-headed ones look like vultures... or flamingoes. :D
As usual you've outdone yourself, Rot. I could look at a thousand more photos and still want more.
Gorgeous! Each and every single one!
Brilliant.
Rot Overload! And it's great! Amazing job as always!
You have done it once again!!! Truly beautiful! If those blind sentinels were mine I would have one on either side of my fireplace. Love the witch jars they are each holding. GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!
so many great pics! I really love the different scarecrows. I think the pointy chin guy is my favorite.
While viewing these pics I am overwhelmed thinking of the amount of time and work was done to get this end result. Just gathering all those sticks, branches ,twigs takes time let alone working on each scarecrow.
Not to mention your day job and maintaining this blog. Mind blowing!!
So well Done!!Amazing Haunt!!
The Details!!WOW!!
Awesome! Kids must crap when they come to your house! If only I had half of your talent...
Amazing group of pics man, amazing. I could literally sit here staring much longer. Back in August I came very close to grabbing two cow skulls as I was obsessed with Rania's usage in last years haunted garden, even mentioned it to her at one point. Explored the possibility making them even...
So glad I did not, couldn't possibly have done them this degree of justice. The sheer amount of work is mind numbing, while the individuality of each piece, the originality of each piece...astonishing. Just love this one man, in total awe.
Rot, awesome stuff! I love the horned guy on your porch. He's beautiful! :D thank you for sharing! I gotta start thinking about next year.. It's going to be a big one I think. After all, the 31st is on a Friday next year. Friday night = more trick 'r treaters. So excited!
Thanks so much, everyone.
So glad you dig this year's display.
No back story with each crow, Marrow. Just tried to get inside the head of someone who was obsessed with building scarecrows.
Which wasn't hard to do : )
And this was definitely the display which took the longest to set up. We started at 8am and finished at 9pm (for the photoshoot). Then I left everything in place except for the scarecrows..which were easy to redisplay on Halloween morning.
Excellent haunt this year. The detail is just INSANE. I'm really liking the scarecrows with the solid black eyes.
The use of the animal skulls is so awesome. I need to start going on a hunt for some dead animals.
Thanks!
I got that cow skull on ebay. It arrived with tons of carrion beetle/worm shells...they fell from the skull like black snow. Kinda gross, but I was digging it.
You have out done yourself once again Rot!! Beautiful display and beautiful work. :-)
Love this! Bava would be proud of rich colors and The Blair Witch would be scared straight by those "stick ghouls"!
This. Is. Awesome!!! Once again, Rot, you've managed to top last year's haunt. Wonderful work!
Oh, and about the dead maggots... ew. Just ew.
Awesome as always! Lots to take in here. It's become a bit of a tradition over here to await your photo galleries and spend some time looking through it all.
Dang Rot! I don't know how you managed to exceed last year's creativity but you've done it man. The extent of your imagination is an awesome thing to behold. Thanks!!
Thanks a ton, guys : )
Rot, are you familiar with the film, 'Altered States' with William Hurt? This is what comes to mind when seeing your work this year. Not the look of the film, mind you, but the concept of regressing back to primal beginnings....which makes your haunt that much poignant, for me anyways. Organic, primal(but not simplistic), exquisite.
Just awesome.
I am, but haven't seen it in a VERY long time.
And that's VERY cool you see that in my Haunt this year.
Epic! No amount of praise is adequate.
thanks!
Just like Autumnleaf said, the scarecrows are so primal. Like born of the earth and not constructed by a madman. The darkeyes pointed chin and the cicada husk one remind me of Wayne Douglas Barlowe's Inferno. Ancient creatures of the night. Beautiful, man, just beautiful!
It's perfect... that's the best way I can put it. If I was to think of a creepy scarecrow haunt in my mind... that's it man.
You are truly gifted. Love the textures and lighting. So inspiring.
Every time I look, I see something I didn't see before. Awesome work this year, it just keeps getting better and better.
Nothing short of amazing! So how many people are in your work crew to get this much work done?! :)
: D
Just me and Bean.
Amazing work this year, as always! The photography is stunning. I love the scarecrow 'sentinels'. For that matter, ALL of the scarecrows look like living breathing entities. Genuinely breathtaking. You and Bean are true originals. We <3 U!!
Absolutely stunning man. I'm finally getting the chance to catch up commenting on other haunts. The detail on each piece is remarkable. And just when I think you can't get any better... BOOM! You unleash this. You set the bar high my friend... I can't wait to see how you can possibly top this year.
Thanks so much : )
