Another great post over at the Vintage Séance blog. Food inspired from literature. A spread based on the one in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would probably make me weep openly if I saw it at a Halloween party.

There was the doughty doughnut, the tender olykoek, and the crisp and crumbling cruller; sweet cakes and short cakes, ginger cakes and honey cakes, and the whole family of cakes. Happily, Ichabod Crane was not in so great a hurry as his historian, but did ample justice to every dainty.

i can just smell the lovely & feel the warmth of it all. i DIG eating. especially, down home classics, like the real good stuff. i love roasted foods & old school desserts. man, i bet those doughnuts were divine. now i'm craving some hot apple pie with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. ugggghhhhh!!!
the other one that caught my eye was the..Jekyll & Hyde..hahahahaha!!!! can you just imagine the creativity & fun. i'm sucha sucker for anything Victorian.
there's a local restaurant in Olde City Philly. called the City Tavern (wayyyyyyy $$$$$$$$) but they actually serve all colonial foods of the day by preparing them 100% authentically (spices etc) it's a neat looking place too. no refrigerators even.
i think the best pancakes i ever had were at a tiny little kinda dumpy place in Salem, Mass. ahhhhhh man!!!.
