Another great post over at the Vintage Séance blog. Food inspired from literature. A spread based on the one in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would probably make me weep openly if I saw it at a Halloween party.
Still wanting Yoda's Stew, Blade Runner Noodles, and any potion made by Grandpa Munster...

This concept is very cool. I'm going to have to fall down that rabbit hole at some point!
From The Legend of Sleepy Hollow:
There was the doughty doughnut, the tender olykoek, and the crisp and crumbling cruller; sweet cakes and short cakes, ginger cakes and honey cakes, and the whole family of cakes. And then there were apple pies, and peach pies, and pumpkin pies; besides slices of ham and smoked beef; and moreover delectable dishes of preserved plums, and peaches, and pears, and quinces; not to mention broiled shad and roasted chickens; together with bowls of milk and cream, all mingled higgledy- pigglely, pretty much as I have enumerated them, with the motherly teapot sending up its clouds of vapor from the midst-- Heaven bless the mark! I want breath and time to discuss this banquet as it deserves, and am too eager to get on with my story. Happily, Ichabod Crane was not in so great a hurry as his historian, but did ample justice to every dainty.
Dammit, now I'm hungry.
I think there should be a Pumpkinrot Halloween get together with all this fine food. :D
Ichabod Crane is my husband's spirit animal, lol. You know I've read Sleepy Holliw twice. I need to find this passage....
I'm intrigued by the Roald Dahl menu!
gahhhhhh...that passage!!!!!
i can just smell the lovely & feel the warmth of it all. i DIG eating. especially, down home classics, like the real good stuff. i love roasted foods & old school desserts. man, i bet those doughnuts were divine. now i'm craving some hot apple pie with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. ugggghhhhh!!!
the other one that caught my eye was the..Jekyll & Hyde..hahahahaha!!!! can you just imagine the creativity & fun. i'm sucha sucker for anything Victorian.
there's a local restaurant in Olde City Philly. called the City Tavern (wayyyyyyy $$$$$$$$) but they actually serve all colonial foods of the day by preparing them 100% authentically (spices etc) it's a neat looking place too. no refrigerators even.
i think the best pancakes i ever had were at a tiny little kinda dumpy place in Salem, Mass. ahhhhhh man!!!.
Rootleaf, I grow! https://www.bigoven.com/recipe/yodas-rootleaf-stew-by-craig-claiborne/177787
Aw thanks for sharing Rot! I always appreciate it :) I just thought Bryt's blog was such a fun concept, so glad I found it! And yummy, Girl6, I wanna know which place you had those pancakes for whenever I can visit Salem one of these days, haha.
