So I have an inside baseball question about your scarecrows. How do you get them to stand up? I know there are a bunch of methods, but you are the expert authority on the topic.
I came into some hollow bamboo and I think I am going to put a piece of rebar in the ground and slide the crow over it. But for normal wood, I want a simple method that lasts the season. You had to have something good for your Peddler’s Village days. (Which I wish you’d reenter, my parents and brother moved out that way 4 or 5 years ago and took me to Peddler’s before I ever knew of this blog. I would love a chance to go up there and see one of your creations in person.)

Agree with Mr. Rot. The green metal post are EXCELLENT for hold up your scarecrow. He got me into using them.
If you look at my skeletons that are the crosses, those crosses are solid tree limbs. The one has at least a 4 1/2 inch base and maybe tapers to 3 inches at the top. REALLY heavy with the solid wood plus a bucky skeleton. I used the larger size post, and had no problems whatsoever.
Wow, good to know! I’ve been using 2x2’s sunk into a hole cored out by a pvc pipe so I don’t have to use a post hole digger. But this would be way easier!
Yeah, thanks for more details, Jay. I’m definently going to pick up a couple. Did you zip tie the limbs, tie them, tape them or some combination?
V.S— I made a hook type thing to hang the bucky on and tied the arms at the wrists with twine or rope. At the feet, I have a screw through an opening of the feet and used twine/rope also.
he's a sweeeeeet little sentinel..he looks like a Monty to me for some reason.
& i LOVE the air conditioner captured in the frame..feels SO homey & candid!!
