Now Playing: Hunter's Moon (And A Rant About HALLOWEEN KILLS)

I didn't last long enough to make it to the end credits song from GHOST (assumption), but HALLOWEEN KILLS was something of a black comedy to me.  Actually, not even a black comedy.  Just a straight comedy.  I have tried for so long to adhere to "If you don't have anything nice to say...", but HALLOWEEN KILLS ruined that philosophy for me.  Even the score was bad.  And I'm a John Carpenter groupie and purist.

I will say one good thing about this film:  Michael Myers' movements WERE absolutely stunningly and purely MICHAEL AUDREY MYERS.  James Jude Courtney was phenomenal as The Shape.  His movements were conjuring those of 1978's Myers.  Courtney IS Michael Myers.  He was a treat to watch.

My wife and kids got mad at me..."You sound like an angry old man, or John McEnroe".
I guess I said you cannot be serious one too many times.
Film was way far away from what I hoped for in tone and storyline. Very disappointed overall.

You know you're old when you crack a John McEnroe joke haha.

Yeah, this one was a stinker, and Halloween 2018 was dreadful to me. And I had higher hopes for this one as I assumed more money due to H2018 would translate into better quality for HALLOWEEN KILLS. Nope. And to be clear ,"Higher hopes" just means that it would have been more watchable.

And regarding the music. I listened to both soundtracks and I just don't understand why Carpenter's and Howarth's scores made decades ago sound better and richer and clearer than these small-scale phoned-in recordings. It was legit like listening to some new artist who just put out his first Halloween Spooky Music cd.

Keep in mind I went to see Carpenter live in concert, and it will remain the greatest concert experience of my entire life. It was HEAVEN in that audience. But that arrangement doesnt translate well into a film score.
