Rot said...: For 2021 it was a decent sized pile of incense resin with three charcoal discs on top. It burns for about thirty minutes. I had a small green LED light in there as well. Had to keep refreshing it, but it was definitely effective.; July 13, 2022 at 8:23 PM

Rot said...: I made those cans. Painted them with paint loaded with coffee grounds to make them look rusted. But before I painted them, I cut the features out with a box cutter. Very sharp and risky stuff since I was cutting them that way. Lots of sharp edges. Not the safest project, but the end result seems to please people who come up on the porch. They seem more excited to see tin cans than pumpkins, and I totally dig.; July 14, 2022 at 6:16 AM

It drowns the charcoals if you put it on top, so I always put some in a small "bowl" of aluminum foil that I crudely make, and then plop three charcoal discs on top, layered like a pyramid so the top coal can keep the bottom ones going when they start to melt the incense too much.

I just tested the cauldron filled with water + a 3-head mister + submersible LED puck lights and it looked good but splatters a lot of water droplets, is a bit noisy, and I’m not thrilled with trying to conceal the power cord. Another one of those things that looks really good objectivity but not good enough for the discerning haunter, ha ha.; July 14, 2022 at 9:55 AM
Rot said...: I have had ALL of those fears! The cord going into a cauldron is always such an obstacle. When it's not a plastic cauldron, that is. I get lulls inbetween trick or treaters...so freshening up the incense wasn't a problem every forty minutes or so.; July 14, 2022 at 9:59 AM
