The Jack-O-Lantern Whopper

I'm a sucker for a gimmick.  But when that gimmick involves a Halloween item, I'm all over it.  Burger King is offering a limited-time Jack-O-Lantern whopper, as well as mummy mozzarella sticks and vampire nuggets.  This reminds me of my youth when there wasn't a shortage of fast-food places offering spooky menus.  Now it seems Burger King is one of the only places trying to spruce things up for the season.

Essentially the same as a regular whopper, but with a bright orange bun topped with black sesame seeds, this thing was really big (I eat one whopper a year, so I forgot the size).  I ordered a medium meal deal and it cost a spooky fourteen bucks.  Remember when fast food was reasonably priced?  I swear it felt more logical to eat terrible food when you were getting it for a bargain.  Fourteen bucks made me a little too self-aware.

That said, it was a good burger (my favorite of all the burger chains).  And I really appreciated the presentation.  The packaging felt like something from the 80's.

Halloween whopper seen here with appetizing corpse parts.

I wonder if the impossible whopper can be made with the spooky bun??

I realize that I'm probably about to say something that may be very out of touch, but...$14? What?!?

I don't even know what to say about that without sounding like Abe Simpson, and about to go on a back-in-my-day-rambling rant about tying an onion to my belt or bumblebee-emblazoned nickels, but holy cats!

The wrapper IS awful fun, and I appreciate the orange-and-black bun, and other seasonal efforts, etc. but I'm absolutely gobsmacked by that price.

(out of curiosity, I decided to check the menu price locally, and it's an eye-watering $15.35 for that combination in our neck of the woods)

Well, at least it was good (and orange)!

That's cool, every once in a while a whopper hits the spot.

Mr. Haunted Eve here: Know exactly what you mean with the current pricing of fast food. I can get a 10 oz "Thriller" Halloween burger with fries from New York Beer Project (which is a gastropub) for $18. A tad more interesting than than the current Burger King Halloween burger for only a few dollars more and trust me, the beef quality is far better! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BPyxyrLAK/
