Midnight

It was twelve by the village clock
When he crossed the bridge into Medford town.
He heard the crowing of the cock,
And the barking of the farmer's dog,
And felt the damp of the river fog,
That rises after the sun goes down.

Farewell Christmas

A few photos from Christmas Eve.
They kinda came out dark and spooky, so I figured it was fair game for a Halloween blog.

A light snow fell at night.

Though I suspect there's some sort of time-distortion device at work on Christmas.

End

Stopped into a Dunkin Donuts today for an iced gingerbread coffee on this Friday before Christmas.
An employee yells over "WE OUT OF JEEENJAHH!"

For it truly IS the end of the world.

Regarding The World's End On Friday

When it's over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was a bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

When it's over, I don't want to wonder
if I have made of my life something particular, and real.
I don't want to find myself sighing and frightened
or full of argument.

I don't want to end up simply having visited this world.

My Family's Always Been In Meat

Graverobbing in Texas is this hour's top news story.
An informant led officers of the Muerto County Sheriff's Department to a cemetery just outside the small rural Texas community of Newt early this morning. Officers there discovered what appeared to be a grisly work of art: the remains of a badly decomposed corpse wired to a large monument.
