Spooky

A love of zombies and scarecrows makes this man a friend by default - plus he's a super nice guy. I've often said that his pumpkin-headed scarecrow is a vast improvement over my Pumpkinrot crow. And his tutorials (and photos) are fantastic.

Behold the incredible Spookyblue.com.

Mister Reusch

Found this guy's artwork a couple years ago. I own a few prints of his amazing paintings. Pure Halloween in every piece.

Vile

What do you call a guy that creates a skeletal torso out of extruded foam? - a Master Sculptor, that's what.

Check out Vilethings.com:

Been a fan of this guy's work forever (even after he sent me a box of genuine Spanish moss - filled with live beetles).

So many great images on this fantastic blog.

Brave Kid

A good number of children choose to pass on collecting candy from me on Halloween night. Some are rather fearless.

Pumpkins II

WATCHDOGS

Flat blonde seeds big
as my thumbnail and shaped
like pointed footballs, we planted five
to a hill in our creekside garden.
You wouldn't believe the tangled
vines running every which way. Butter-
yellow blossoms slowly swelled to green
balloons. By fall they'd turned orange,
grown huge: lots I couldn't carry.

I helped Dad carve jagged-tooth faces;
we lit candle stubs, left them wavering,
set two on our front porch.
They looked neat from the road -
so bright,
scary.

Bones and Skulls and Halloween

I'll be posting some haunts that I really dig.
The best place to start is SkullandBone.com, my personal favorite. The atmosphere that this guy creates is always stunning. His attention to detail is something I've never been able to achieve in my own haunt. Bravo, my friend.

Crudedoodles....

Found this graphic artist online using some pics from my site in his cool images.
Neat stuff from Crudedoodle.com:

Wow. Love this image:

Halloween Stores

These photos were from some pretty significant displays I found in various stores in the area:

Halloween Houses

Wanted to post these pics from the old Brewing page.
I went for a walk one night in October and took these photos:

Halloween Morning

Snapped on Halloween morning on the way to set up the display.

New Brewing Page...

Been testing the format of this new Brewing page and I like it a lot. Got tired of updating the old one in Dreamweaver. So here are a few of the photos from the old page to launch the new page into 2008.

Pumpkins

I found that carving my pumpkins days before Halloween and allowing them to rot and mold up a bit added some great and creepy quality to the lanterns on Halloween night.

With the help of some wire hangers, and some inspiration from Bradbury's THE HALLOWEEN TREE and a book called The Abingdon Party Book (the chapter "A Halloween Frolic"), I hung some small pumpkins from the tree. I think I'll be doing this every year.
