Westcoaster: The Haunted Amusement Park

During the nighttime, in the dimly-lit atmosphere around this sprawling, nearly-mile-long haunted trail, the moody shapes and silhouettes of the old buildings and rides carry a tangibly weighted history that pulls on the psyche.  It’s the perfect setting for a haunted amusement park theme that the aptly-named Haunted Amusement Park has taken.

A Lost-And-Gone One-Ring Mexican Circus

The ticket-seller lurched in, bringing with him the Victrola which he banged onto a band platform near the ring. In a great shower of sparks and minor explosions, he plugged it in, looked around, shrugged, spun a record, poised the needle. We could have either a live band or live acrobats and trapeze artists. We chose the latter.

The huge circus began—small.

Now a sword-swallower choked on a sword, sprayed kerosene in a gout of flame, and wandered out to applause from five small girls.

Three clowns knocked each other across the ring and bounded off to aching silence.

Freak Show

Never caught the Witch-themed American Horror Story, but the opening credits for the new season are really neat.  Great music too.  Very Brothers Quay.

Scary Clown

As if there's any other kind.
I've always heard that there's a high suicide rate among dentists.
If that's really the case, I'd imagine the same goes for clowns. I mean, what other form of children's entertainment can get easily mutated into a terrifying Halloween monster?

I can't think of any.
