Flashback to Elm Street and have your photo taken with the man of your dreams, iconic horror actor Robert Englund in the make-up of his famous character, Freddy Krueger, one final time.
Robert Englund’s “Freddy Krueger” make up will be designed and applied by FX master artist Robert Kurtzman in the same extensive process used in the “NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET” films. 

This is crazy to ponder.  Imagine meeting Freddy Krueger, but not Robert Englund.  This has so much potential to be strange and weird and uncomfortable...though it JUST might be awesome if done right.  

How it SHOULD go down:
1. You pay that dreaded fee and they make you feel like a hero.
2. You are told to go into a very dark room that makes you feel disoriented, like one of those weird skewed-perspective rooms.
3. You hear your name whispered and a floor board squeak.  
4. Freddy is in your face with REAL finger blades.  
5. Freddy tells you this isn't a joke and it's not a photo-op.

I wonder how many horror fans will slip him a twenty and beg him to slash their faces.  It'd be the story/scar of a lifetime.

Music By Jon Glassett

For as long as I've had a yard haunt, I've had music playing to enhance it. Back in the day, it was selected tracks from John Carpenter soundtracks and various horror scores. I remember one early year the main titles from BEETLEJUICE even made it to the final cut. Lately it's been dark ambient music. Subtle and unnerving, slowly building to add tension and a pending certain doom for any trick-or-treater close enough to hear it. Music makes the shadows darker and the pumpkins brighter. And the night a little colder.

A good friend of mine from a few states away has a really cool blog which I've featured a number of times here. He's a talented writer and I've always found his stuff to be witty and insightful and loaded with heart. He's also a musician and a composer. He featured some tracks of music recently and I was blown away. I don't write that lightly. It did what music's supposed to do - it connected with the listener [me]. I related to it and felt emotion from it...and wanted more. I posted a few comments complimenting his work and invited him to satiate his desire to write horror scores by composing something for my haunt video. To my delight, he accepted the offer and began working on a score to my 2008 video for THE HOLLOWMEN.

It's difficult to describe how I felt when he sent me the finished product. Listening to a musical score that was written specifically for my video was a tad overwhelming. I'm an opinionated stickler for music and spend an insane amount of time selecting tracks for my haunt videos. His music was simply perfect. He displays a skill for subtle tension and chilling accents, while avoiding any of the typical trappings you might expect from a horror score. I felt like it was Halloween again. Like I was looking at someone else's haunt. The video is now packed with atmosphere and style and creepiness.

I'm pretty honored and extremely grateful that he did this for me. He's a Master at his craft. I have darker shadows and brighter pumpkins to prove it.

Skull And Bone And Robots

I remember a long time ago emailing Rob at SkullandBone.com with an effusive email. I told him how much I dug his style and haunt and photography and everything. You could say we became good buds since then. Keeping tabs on what we're working on or what we'd like to be working on. Discussing our haunting approaches. Sharing plans or concepts, or the sort of bourbon I'm going to bring with me when/if I ever get out to the West coast to visit. Fun fun stuff.

Rob's a concept artist. And an amazing one. The sort of guy I've bragged to people about. He's worked on video games and done CG matte paintings for television and film. Most recently his team worked on TERMINATOR SALVATION, designing the character Marcus' face. He also did the concept work for the open chest cavity of Marcus, a charred head of a T600, and several matte paintings of a burned and devastated Los Angeles.


Nicest guy in the world. Humble too. I do believe I begged him to let me share this with the Halloween community.

Can't WAIT to see what's next.
