Been a while since I've watched this film. Oh, the memories. Currently living in the past and it feels fine.

Jones
They thought the dream world was real, not some meaningless neurological side effect of sleep. There was the waking world of order; cause and effect time and space and another, a very real world that you glimpsed in dreams. These talismans were created by the holy men to patrol the boarders of the two worlds as they overlapped to keep the chaos and insanity and nightmares of the dream world from entering our own.

Mr. Jones Review
From John Kenneth Muir's Reflections on Cult Movies and
Classic TV.
It’s a horror film (and found footage film) that doesn’t rely on a body count to thrill or terrify, and, oppositely, creates a genuine and pervasive atmosphere of dread. This is a movie in which -- by the half-way point -- you will feel that there is something wrong or off-kilter with reality itself; that the universe has been suffused with forces both dark and sinister.

The Scarecrow That Wasn't
Back when I was working with director Karl Mueller to build the scarecrows of Mr. Jones, he talked about found-objects being incorporated into some of the designs. Like the Jones guy builds his totems with stuff he finds along the road, dumped in the woods, or thrown out in the trash. The request came in to build one with a doll's head.
As a guy who doesn't really do that sort of thing, I came up with the below design, and off it went to California for the shoot. I dug the concept and love how it came out, but was very relieved in NY watching the premiere when it never showed up in the movie. Only after rewatching the film on dvd did I notice that her dress and head were removed and she became the scarecrow that Penny and Scott knock over during their first encounter with Mr. Jones.
I felt really bad when I bought the doll off of ebay and the kind lady selling her wrote me the nicest note "I just know she's going to be so happy in her new home!" Awful.
I'm a [doll] child murderer.
I'd like to leave this on someone's property and just drive away.

Swamp Babies Dig It
Funny photo from my bud Jon.
And speaking of swamp babies, this weekend is the ScareLA convention for all the lucky folks near Los Angeles.
Lots of films in the lineup now. They added a short description about Swamp Foetus. I dig it.

Karl Mueller Interview
Looks like Mr. Jones is doing really well in the iTunes downloads. Last time I checked it was number 5 in the horror rankings.
Found this interview below with the director:
