Always so amazing and unique.  This year is no exception.

Incredible at night and in daylight.

Northmire Haunt

One of those glorious Haunt photos that captures pretty much everything I want to feel in a Haunt.

Fires Of Odin

We fought with swords,
before Boring-holmi.
We held bloody shields:
we stained our spears.
Showers of arrows brake the shield in pieces.
The bow sent forth the glittering steel.
Volnir fell in the conflict,
than whom there was not a greater king.
Wide on the shores lay the scattered dead:
the wolves rejoiced over their prey.

(Verse from the Krákumál.)

Nocturnal

The world is so different in the daylight. In the dark your fantasies get so out of hand. But in the daylight everything falls back into place again.
Let's have no more nights.

The Curator

After posting the Flame Torches for the Elite blog post, I was going through my blog looking at old entries with the "Torches" label/hashtag.  The below image came up from way back in 2010, from a now-defunct blog called My Brainchild.  An incredible Haunt and photo.  Look at that owl!

It got me thinking as to how many links on this ancient Halloween blog are now nonfunctional and broken.  And it occurred to me that these images might now only exist on this blog, so I'm really hoping the blogger.com platform remains for literally forever.

And I'm going to occasionally post a Blog Label entry, where I'll feature a different Label and encourage folks to click back through time.

I'll start with the below tag for TORCHES.

Click below and scroll through these neat photos.  It was nice to see so many Haunts using real flames:

Propane Fire Torches

Very cool (and wildly expensive) gas fire torches (don't call them tiki torches) for all your Haunt Flame needs.

Easily the best Skull Tikis I have ever seen.  Amazing work.

Love this guy's how-to's.

Southwalk Ritual: Halloween 2018

It was the start of the year in our old Celtic lands, and we'd be waiting... in our houses of wattles and clay.  The barriers would be down, you see, between the real and the unreal, and the dead might be looking in... to sit by our fires of turf.  Halloween... the festival of Samhain!  The last great one took place three thousand years ago, when the hills ran red... with the blood of animals and children.
